No. 1 is a great place to head if you’re looking for a quiet drink in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The bar’s location on Causewayside is just a short walk from the Royal Mile and Princes St, though it’s tucked away from the main tourist trails. The bar’s clientele is predominately local, comprising savvy Edinburgh residents seeking to enjoy an evening with good friends, good food and good drink. The bar’s décor is toned down but modern, without being showy. Drinks are well-priced, with the bar offering an extensive range of beers, wines and spirits, while staff are always helpful, polite and happy. The food at No. 1 is excellent, ranging from delicious burgers to hot breakfasts that are the perfect way to get the weekend off to a flier. Wednesday nights are curry nights at No. 1, with a ‘2 Taster Curry’ and a beer priced at just £10. For something a little different, why not try out the bar’s popular Potails? These intriguingly-named concoctions are cocktails served up in china teapots with cups and saucers. Ingredients include vodka, rose syrup, lemonade and chilli flakes. Quirky? Yes. Tasty? Most certainly.

Great pub! Plenty seating for large groups and loads of space as well. There is also a large selection of beers wines and spirits at the bar and all reasonably priced.
